This month on the blog I’m showing some love to my favorite part of Atlanta…the Westside. It’s amazing what has happened here on the Westside over the past few years in terms of revitalization, development and community. So, whether you are listing your Westside home or planning to buy here, this article is for you.

When I’m out and about, I find that most people, whether they live on the Westside or not, do not know about all that is happening on our side of town and how it’s going to affect our property values. So, here are the latest updates. Please feel free to share this post and my exclusive interactive map with your real estate agent and/or buyers. It’s a great resource for both sellers and buyers!

The Chelsea Westside – A great example of the revitalization of our area is Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard. Once a relatively lonely industrial stretch is now home to the trendy Top Golf and Bacchanalia, considered one of the top ten restaurants in Atlanta; as well as numerous other fun shops and restaurants popping up. As far as residential options in the area, a new development of townhomes called the Chelsea Westside is taking shape. There are 92 townhomes planned ranging in price from $400ks to $700ks being built between now and 2020. The first phase of units is said to be ready by this spring.

New Flex Work Spaces – Another exciting trend on the Westside that will help improve property values is the conversion of old warehouses into new, hip, flex work spaces. One such example is the conversion of two 1960s–era warehouses along Menlo Drive. The new spaces will have a total of 80,000 square feet of commercial space available. This new space will be much like The Complex flex space on Chattahoochee Ave.

Hollywood & Main – Riverside will be getting a new neighborhood of 25 townhomes. The project is expected to break ground soon on these unique live/work townhomes. The project was previously set to begin construction in 2017 and ready for sale in 2018; however, it looks like the timeline has been moved back a bit. We’ll keep an eye on this new community in the highly desirable Riverside area.

So, what does all this mean for the Westside? What I love the most is that we are creating urban clusters, so residents can live, work and play closer together, which means less windshield time and less traffic. It means that shopping and schools are nearby so there’s less time we have to spend driving out of the area for basic necessities. We also have exciting options for outdoor activities on the Beltline and Westside Reservoir Park. This also means that as more and more of these commercial and residential developments are finished, our property values and the popularity of the area will increase.

If you take a look at the interactive map where you can visually see where all these areas I discuss are located, all these developments are happening within a couple miles of each other.  It’s not all done yet, but as I watch these plans take shape I’m more excited than ever to be living and making my living here on the Westside.
