For a while I’ve planned to highlight Dupont Commons, a very popular, highly desirable neighborhood here on the Upper Westside. I’ve recently had a chance to help a family find a home in the neighborhood and spending some time in the area with the buyers reminded me why this is such a popular spot to get a great mix of urban and suburban living for Atlanta families.

Here is how the developer, Brock Built, describes the community on their website – and I’d say it’s an accurate description. Dupont Commons is “…conveniently located just minutes from Downtown Atlanta and Buckhead, Dupont Commons offers city living with a hometown feel. The craftsman-styled homes are the perfect fit and are nestled alongside amenities unmatched in any Atlanta new home community. At Dupont Commons, your lifestyle includes tree-lined streets, panoramic views, parks, pavilions, swimming pool, fire pit, grills, playground, exercise facility, and an award-winning clubhouse.”

Dupont Commons was founded in 2004 and fully built out in 2015 in three phases of construction. There are over 300 homes in the community with large home sites, lots of trees, and a resort-living feel. It’s located in the City of Atlanta school district. Children attend Bolton Academy for Elementary school, Sutton Middle School, and North Atlanta High School. According to residents we spoke to, the Westside Atlanta Charter School and Atlanta Classical Academy are also popular schools with residents.

It’s got quite the idyllic look and in its young life has already had two movies and a TV commercial filmed in the neighborhood. The recent film entitled “Keeping Up with the Jones” was filmed there, as was “Flight” with Denzel Washington. Resident Courtney Evans told me that a Hooters commercial was also filmed there and it was quite exciting with a race car and lots of action involved in the shooting. Fun!

So, what’s it like to live in Dupont Commons? In addition to being a beautiful neighborhood, I asked Courtney, what’s so special about living there? This is what she told me: “The neighborhood is awesome.  Full of families – and children. It is a very active and social neighborhood, which is great for us and our children.  We never have to leave to go have fun because there is so much going on that we don’t want to ‘miss out’.”

She says they have a “fabulous Social Committee” that plans events throughout the year, like the recent St. Patrick’s Day Party at the Clubhouse. They also have Food Truck Fridays and big celebrations for all the major holidays throughout the year. She says they also have the best informal gatherings, potlucks, and yard games with the neighbors. It’s a very close-knit community.

The pool, clubhouse and fitness center are also popular. And there’s lots of green space, a dog park, and a newly renovated playground for the kids. Sounds like a great place to raise a family while enjoying the perks of urban living in Atlanta, right?!

As you might imagine, homes in the neighborhood sell quickly but they do come on the market now and then, so if you are interested in buying in a neighborhood like Dupont Commons, let me know. I’m happy to keep an eye out for you!

Cheers,

Michelle
