While we appeal our taxes, demand for homes in Atlanta remains strong

While many of us in Fulton and DeKalb counties are fighting the increase in our property taxes, property values in Atlanta continue to increase—although not at the rate the county assessor might claim—and demand for housing remains strong. (Read my blog post about appealing your taxes here.)

The area covered by the Hatch Neighborhood Report experienced an increase of 7% in average sales price for single-family detached homes—to $822,861—and a 2% decrease in the number of sales.

The average sales price in the five-county metro area* also jumped 7% to $343,111, and a 1% increase in sales from 2017.

The Hatch Neighborhood Report compares year-to-date sales data to the previous year to measure the health of the housing market of Buckhead and the surrounding areas, and to compare their sales activity to the metro area as a whole. Reporting sales activity for the year allows us to identify top-performing neighborhoods.
