Hard to believe, but it’s been since February that I’ve posted about the latest developments here on the Westside…and boy, do I have lots to update you on as far as retail additions and new housing. So, here goes!

West Midtown Center

The retail development at the corner of Northside and 17th has been named West Midtown Center. The Kroger grocery store will be anchoring and the center is planned to include a pizza restaurant, Chipotle, Zaxby’s McCalister’s Deli, and Dunkin’ Donuts. Another great option for convenient shopping on the Westside; plus, when this area is complete there will be multifamily and single-family homes included.

New Park!

Kitty-corner from West Midtown Center a new park is planned in a 4.5 acre vacant lot with gorgeous views of Midtown and downtown. Eventually this area will be cleaned up, have mulch trails and benches to sit and enjoy the view. We’re hoping the park will be completed by October.

Westside Village

Construction is underway at Westside Village, the latest new development here on the Upper Westside! When finished it will be a 100k square foot mixed-use development bringing much needed retail and restaurant development to this area. Publix has been a great addition but we’ll all be excited when this new retail option begins filling out. For now, they’ve announced that Primrose Schools, an early education and care provider will be moving in; as well as The Refinery, a luxury sports and fitness club. The development is expected to be completed by Spring 2019.

Altus at the Quarter

Want a high efficiency, high tech home here on the Upper Westside? If so, this new neighborhood is for you! It’s all the rage and has tons of buzz. Being built as a collaboration between Pulte Homes and Georgia Power, these homes make up Atlanta’s first “Smart Neighborhood.” There are 46 initial townhomes that will include solar, energy storage, voice-activated security, smart locks, and app-controlled lighting. More Info.

Ballard Designs Open July 13th!

As we watch The Works at Chattahoochee come together, the most exciting development at this new center is the grand opening of Ballard Designs. This 20,000 square foot slice of decorating heaven will stock 70% of what’s shown on the floor, so you can take it home with you, according to their website. There are also in-house design experts available to help. I can’t wait! More info.

The Chelsea Westside

Quick update on this one. This neighborhood is made up 92 townhomes on Ellsworth Industrial Blvd. It is being built in phases and will be completed by 2020. Currently we’re seeing 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath units selling in the $600’s. More Info.

Street Taco to Open

Who doesn’t love a good street taco?! We are so excited to finally have a neighborhood place we can walk to. Berkeley Park and Underwood Hills residents will have their first local, walkable, casual, affordable neighborhood haunt where we can walk with the dogs and the kids to get a bite to eat.

The Interlock

On the southeast corner of Howell Mill Road and 14th Street here on the Westside, a new development is rising called The Interlock. It is slated as a “multi-use” development that will offer loft office space, retail, 350 apartments, 70 single-family homes and a boutique hotel. Already planned for the office space is a 50k square foot “incubator space” to house growing tech start-ups (a Georgia Technology Venture).

The All-important Restaurant Update

Yes, we’re always interested in the latest restaurant happenings here – particularly on Howell Mill near the new Howells restaurant – so here’s the latest that I know of. Right next door to Howells the Cultivate Food & Coffee will open this fall. It will roast it’s own coffee and serve breakfast and lunch. Also at Howell Mill Shops Zunzi’s sandwich shop opened and we have Doughnut Dollies coming soon. Have I missed anything?

I will be doing more frequent, quarterly updates on what’s happening here because there’s just so much growing, changing, and moving in here on the Westside. It’s a happenin’ place!

If you are interested in learning more about any of these housing developments or finding your ideal place here on the Westside, please let me know. I’d love to help!

Cheers,
Michelle
