2018 ends strong for the Atlanta metro area

The Atlanta market closed out the year in a stronger position than it did in 2017. I follow 25 Atlanta submarkets in the Hatch Neighborhood Report, and the average sales price for the area covered in the report increased 7%—to $830,301—over 2017. Sales volume dipped 1% from 2017—to 2,846.

  • Nine submarkets experienced double-digit growth in ASP year-over-year, compared with only 5 the previous year
  • Two submarkets closed the year with negative growth in ASP, compared with 8 the previous year

For Cobb, DeKalb, Forsyth, Fulton and Gwinnett counties, the average sales price for single family detached homes sold in 2018 was $352,950, or an increase of 7%, and a 2% decrease of the total number of homes sold—to 45,221.
