Despite talk of inflation, January 2018 starts off strong

Compared to January 2017, 2018 is starting off with a bang for the area covered by the Hatch Neighborhood Report. Although the total number of sales remains low, the area experienced a 13% sales growth since 2017 and a 3% increase in average sales price, to $855,385.

Because we are only dealing with market activity for one month, you will notice an erratic swing in the number of sales and average sales price at the neighborhood level. As the year progresses into the “high season,” we will be able to see more clearly which neighborhoods will be the top performing markets for 2018.

Despite talk of rising rates and inflation, Forbes recently named Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta area one of the top 20 housing markets to invest in 2018! More analysis of our housing market coming in next month’s blog post.

For now, check out how specific neighborhoods are performing by downloading this issue.

In Cobb, DeKalb, Forsyth, Fulton and Gwinnett counties, the average sales price for single family detached homes sold in January 2018 was $319,420, or an increase of 8% over January 2017, and a 2% decrease of the total number of homes sold.
